North bay
Marin County is conveniently located between San Francisco
and the Napa and Sonoma Wine Country. Music, art and film
festivals, and historical and cultural venues continue to
attract people from all over the world. Surrounded by water
on three sides, Marin County's
many beautiful natural sites include the famous Muir Woods
redwood forest, the Marin Headlands, Stinson Beach, Point
Reyes National Seashore, and Mount Tamalpais. America's oldest
cross country race, the Dipsea Race takes place annually
in Marin County, attracting thousands of athletes.
Sausalito
Sausalito is a charming waterfront community that lies across
the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. You can stroll
along the water and watch the sea lions cavort, rest in the
plaza and listen to the splashing fountain, soak up the ambiance
in the many open air cafes, browse through the unique boutiques
and art galleries, check out the marinas, and stroll the
grand promenades with San Francisco views. Enjoy a world-renowned
art festival, jazz concerts by the bay. Sausalito is home
to one of the largest houseboat communities on the West Coast,
and houses the Bay Area Discovery Museum. There are many
well groomed hiking and biking trails, as well as easy access
to Muir Woods and Mt Tam.
Mill Valley
The City of Mill Valley encompasses the hillsides and canyons
of the southeast flank of Mount Tamalpais, 11 miles north
of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. Nestled among
redwoods and canyons, Mill Valley is only ten minutes north
of San Francisco, yet the quiet, wooded atmosphere feels
very rural. The history of Mill Valley includes a number
of trends that have continued through the many eras of the
City’s story. These trends include the appreciation
of the City’s unique natural beauty and the desire
to protect its natural resources, the enjoyment and encouragement
of the performing and visual arts, and the strong commitment

Tiburon & Belvedere
Tiburon is an affluent, sleepy town at
the end of the Tiburon Peninsula that curls out into San
Francisco Bay. The smaller city of Belvedere (formerly a
separate island) occupies the south-east part of the peninsula
and is contiguous with Tiburon. Tiburon is bordered by Corte
Madera to the north and Mill Valley to the west, but is otherwise
surrounded by the Bay. Angel Island is a short ferry ride
away.
From fishing
village to art colony to quaint town, Tiburon is one of those
great places close to home where a visit of a few hours feels
like a mini-vacation. Stroll great shops, dine and chat on
decks that look out over the Bay toward San Francisco, or
catch the ferry to Angel Island or San Francisco. A leisurely
stroll along Main Street and Ark Row, two of historic Tiburon's
most picturesque streets, have interesting views of the town's
beautifully restored buildings which date back to the late-1800's.
An assortment of exceptional shops and galleries, and even
a winery, offer convenient and unusual shopping opportunities.
Corte Madera

San Rafael
San Rafael is Marin's oldest city and also Marin's central
city. San Rafael is the county's governmental, business,
and cultural center. Famous for its favorable climate, San
Rafael makes a central base for taking day trips to scenic
locations such as the Napa/Sonoma wine country, the Pt. Reyes
National Seashore, and Muir Woods. San Rafael's many Attractions
include its namesake Mission San Rafael Arcangel, the landmark
Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center, Victorian architecture,
a lively downtown district, an historic China Camp, and more.
Novato
Escape to charming Novato - with quaint shops, superb restaurants,
expansive open space and parks. Novato offers a great variety
of fun and activities for everyone young and old alike. The
charming downtown, unique dining, great shopping, wonderful
lodging and central location makes Novato a great base for
those who want to explore the Bay Area; San Francisco, the
Marin Coast, Napa and Sonoma Wine Country, and all of Marin

Greenbrae
Greenbrae is a small community in Marin County, California,
located at the opening of the
Ross Valley. Part of Greenbrae is in an unincorporated area
of the county while the remaining area is inside the city
limits of Larkspur. Predominantly composed of hillside and
waterfront terrain, its homes and offices are known for their
views of the San Francisco Bay, Corte Madera Creek, and Mount
Tamalpais. Greenbrae's neighborhoods are bordered by downtown
Larkspur to the south, Larkspur Landing to the east, the
unincorporated area of Kentfield to the west, and the city
of San Rafael to the north. Straddling Sir Francis Drake
Boulevard, its most frequented points of interest include
Marin General Hospital, Bon Air Shopping Center, and the
Marin Rowing Association Boathouse.
Larkspur
Larkspur is located north of San Francisco near Mount Tamalpais.
Larkspur's Police Department is shared with that of the neighboring
Corte Madera. Adjacent to Larkspur's downtown is Madrone
Canyon, which is a residential area and a redwood grove.
Kentfield
Kentfield is a community in Marin County, just north of
San Francisco. The zip code (94904) is shared with the neighboring
community of Greenbrae. The main campus for The College of
Marin is in Kentfield, and is across the street from Kent
Middle School. College of Marin is well known for its theatre
department, with the highest transfer acceptance to Juilliard
of any junior college in the state.
Ross
Ross is a small incorporated town in Marin County, just
north of San Francisco. The population was 2,329 at the 2000
census. The town is bordered by Kentfield and Greenbrae to
the east, Larkspur to the south and San Anselmo to the north.
The hub of Ross is its downtown, nestled against the Ross
Common, Fred Allen Park and Corte Madera Creek, and offering
views of the surrounding hillsides and Bald Hill.
San Anselmo
San Anselmo is an incorporated town in Marin County, just
north of San Francisco. Neighboring towns include San Rafael
to the east, Fairfax to the west, and Ross to the south.
Mount Tamalpais dominates the view to the south. Among its
notable inhabitants are Michael Jantze and George Lucas.
Most of the downtown antique and boutique stores and restaurants,
for which San Anselmo is well known, are along the banks
of San Anselmo Creek.
Terra Linda
Terra Linda is a neighborhood of San Rafael, California,
located in the Las Gallinas Valley area of Marin County,
just north of San Francisco. Terra Linda, a community in
a valley surrounded by green and gold publicly-preserved
open space hills, is a residential and light commercial/office
community. Most of Terra Linda was built after World War
II and was largely completed by 1970. About 900 homes in
Terra Linda were built by Joseph Eichler in the early 1960's.
